With over 10 years experience Oz has a strong dedication for team building, positive energy and influencing others. Oz has an extensive background in Early Childhood that has provided foundation for her leadership roles across early learning services.

Operations Manager & Educational Leader
With a strong and diverse background in early childhood education and operational management, Shannan is dedicated to ensuring that our center runs smoothly and efficiently, providing the highest quality of care and education for our children.
Her approach is characterised by a commitment to continuous improvement, a deep understanding of the needs of both staff and families, and a focus on creating a nurturing and supportive environment.

Music Program
Music and Movement Program offered to all rooms fortnightly through an external company.
This program engages children in fun, interactive sessions that promote physical activity, rhythm, and coordination.
Bush Kinder
Smart Start ELDC is proud to integrate their specialised Bush Kinder Program one day per week for children in their 3 and 4 year old kindergarten years. Encompassing the natural environment and its core value for holistic approach to education.
Swimming Programs
Our Swimming Program is linked with a local swimming school.
As part of our ongoing Healthy Together Achievement Program and School readiness approach to learning.
Our swimming program supports children's foundation skills in;
- Water safety
- Entering and existing water
- Lifesaving skills in water
3 & 4 Kindergarten Programs
Our 3 & 4 Kindergarten programs operate Monday - Friday and lead by Qualified Bachelor trained Early Childhood Teachers.
Programs are encompassed with STEAM education, Koorie Curriculum, VEYLDF and EYLF.

Always Hearing
Supporting children from ages 3-5 to obtain hearing tests. Hearing tests are also offered and provided for adults connected to the service.
Teeth on Wheels
Early education dental health and hygiene program connected to the service for 2 years +
Smiling Minds
Supporting children through guided mindfulness practices and activities.
Healthy Together Achievement Program
Creating a healthier environment for working and learning. The focuses on health areas like healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health and wellbeing. Smart Start ELDC has state-wide recognition across all health areas.

is a not-for-profit charity established in 1993 to make a difference in child safety, wellbeing, and injury recovery.
Murdoch Children's Research Institute
The Murdoch Children's Research Institute is an Australian paediatric medical research institute located in Melbourne, Victoria, affiliated with the Royal Children's Hospital and the University of Melbourne.
Ivanhoe Speech Therapy
Ivanhoe based speech therapy and speech pathology services specialising in selective mutism, stuttering, dyspraxia and literacy.

What happens if my child is absent?Inform the service directly to their nominated email address or service contact number. Enrolments are still deemed payable with the amount being your approved gap fee. Illness absences for children; families are encouraged to obtain a medical certificate to apply for CCS application should their allowable absences be exceeded.

Do I pay for public holidays if its my usual enrolment day?Yes. The amount payable is estimated at your usual gap fee payment per usual enrolment day.

What's the orientation process at Smart Start ELDC?Our orientation process is unique and individualised to families providing them with a process that caters to both the parent/s and child/ren respectfully. Please contact the service directly on info@smartstartchildcare.com.au to seek more information and how our process can support you and your child through orientation.

How do I apply for CCS?Head to the following website -https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/how-to-claim-child-care-subsidy?context=41186 Families will need to obtain a Customer Reference Number (CRN) for both the parent 1 lodged in Centrelink and a Customer Reference Number (CRN) for your child.

What is the 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten hours?At Smart Start ELDC our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten is structured Monday - Friday between 9am - 3pm. Prior and beyond these times, the service continues to provide a learning environment in the same environment that caters the abilities, emerging interests and school readiness approach to learning.

Can I pick up Casual Bookings at Smart Start ELDC?All families are welcomed to book casual days for their child outside of their usual ongoing enrolment booking days. Casual booking enrolments are booked via an email to the services' nominated email address with the amount payable to the service via the families usual payment method of choice.

Is there a minimum day requirement at Smart Start ELDC?Smart Start ELDC have carefully considered the wellbeing and ongoing learning development for children within the centre. Smart Start ELDC has adapted a 2 day minimum requirement as part of the service enrolment policy. Enrolments for funded 4 year old Kindergarten requires a 3 day minimum enrolment.
